Research peptides
Peptide testing built for a market that runs on trust
Research peptides move on reputation and screenshots. Summit exists to replace both with a number your customers can check for themselves.
Why it matters
A purity number without a chromatogram is a claim, not a result
Anyone can print “99% purity” on a label. The question that matters is what the underlying data shows: where the impurity peaks sit, how large they are, and whether the mass of the main peak matches the compound named on the vial.
The chromatogram beside this text is a real trace from our seed database — a sample at 94.2% purity that passed identity but failed a 98% specification. Nothing about that is visible in a headline number. It is obvious the moment you see the peaks.
Every Summit certificate carries the trace, the retention times, and every impurity above the reporting threshold. That is the whole point of paying a third party.

Fentanyl screening, by LC-MS/MS
Purity and identity describe what the material is. They do not answer whether something else came along with it. Those are different questions and they need different instruments.
Summit screens submitted material for fentanyl and common analogs — including acetylfentanyl and carfentanil — using targeted tandem mass spectrometry. Results are reported as detected or not detected against a stated limit of detection, and that limit is printed on the certificate. We do not issue a bare “clean” claim, because a screen without a detection limit tells you nothing about what it could have missed.
Screening is included in the Vendor Release and Full QC panels, and can be ordered on its own for material you already hold.
What the screen does and does not say
- Reported as
- Detected or not detected, with the limit of detection stated on the certificate.
- Analytes covered
- Fentanyl plus a panel of common analogs, including acetylfentanyl and carfentanil.
- Scope
- The sample as received. A not-detected result describes that vial — it is not a statement about any other unit, lot, or future batch.
- Why HPLC purity cannot substitute
- A trace contaminant can sit far below what UV detection resolves while a sample still integrates above 99% area-percent.

Vendors and distributors
Batch-release testing with a certificate your customers can verify themselves. Publishing a real, checkable COA is now the price of entry — buyers have learned to ask which lab, and to look the number up.
Typically: Vendor Release Panel
Group buys and collectives
Split one test across a group and get an independent read on the batch everyone is receiving. We report to whoever submitted the sample; share the access code with the group and every participant can pull the same certificate.
Typically: Standard Panel
Individual researchers
Send a single vial from material you already hold. You get the same instrumentation, the same chromatogram, and the same certificate as a commercial client — no minimum order.
Typically: Single test
Manufacturers and compounders
Incoming raw material verification and method development for novel compounds, including quantitation against certified reference standards and stability programs.
Typically: Custom program

Common questions
Before you ship
How much material do you need?+
One standard vial is enough for the chemistry panels. For quantitation we prefer an unopened vial so the label claim can be assessed against the full contents. Sterility and endotoxin require additional material — we will tell you exactly how much when we issue your accession number.
What does the purity number actually mean?+
Area-percent purity: the main peak's integrated area as a percentage of all integrated peak area at the monitoring wavelength. It is a relative measure, which is why it is reported alongside identity confirmation and, where ordered, quantitation against a reference standard. Those three together describe the material; any one alone does not.
Can I test material I bought from a vendor?+
Yes. A large share of our volume is buyers independently checking material they already purchased. We report to the person who submitted the sample. The certificate names the compound and lot as you declare them to us, and states that the material was client-submitted.
Does a high purity number mean the material is free of fentanyl?+
No, and this is the single most misunderstood point in peptide testing. Area-percent purity is a relative measure taken at one UV wavelength — a contaminant present at a fraction of a percent can be invisible in that number while still being the thing that matters most. Fentanyl screening is a separate, targeted LC-MS/MS method with its own limit of detection. If you want that question answered, it has to be ordered as its own test.
Do you publish results that fail?+
Yes. A certificate is issued exactly as the data came out, and it stays in our records that way. Clients choose who they give the access code to — that is their business — but nobody can have a number revised, softened, or withdrawn after seeing it, and any code already handed out keeps working. A lab that edits results to order is not producing independent data.
How fast are results?+
Standard chemistry — purity, identity, quantitation, endotoxin — is reported within 3–5 business days of sample receipt. Elemental work runs 7–10 business days, and sterility requires incubation and takes about ten business days. Rush service is available on request.
Are you affiliated with any peptide vendor?+
No. Summit does not manufacture, sell, or distribute peptides, and holds no ownership interest in any company that does. Our only product is the test result.
